There’s is nothing like hosting a dinner for 2 and having the best food all while doing the smallest amount food prep and labour in the kitchen. I just love it when I can make so little effort and have it turn out like I fussed over it for hours. That's the magic of the slow cooker.

Tips in preparing your Beef Ribs:

-If you are using frozen beef ribs, be sure to thaw them in the refrigerator for at least 24 hours before cooking. This will help ensure that they cook evenly.

-When trimming the ribs, be sure to remove any large pieces of fat. Fat can cause the ribs to become extra greasy.

Here's a Quick Tip:

-If you're using a dry rub or marinade, be sure to apply it at least 30 minutes before cooking. This will give the flavors time to penetrate the meat.

-They take a while to cook, but they're worth the wait!

The Recipe 

Easy Slow Cooked Beef Ribs for a Romantic Dinner or Family Feast

Serves 6 people

Prep Time: 20

Cook time: 6 - 8 hrs

6 Beef Ribs

2 Cups Beef Stock (Low sodium optional)

4 Tbsps Olive Oil

1tsp Salt

1tsp Pepper

2 tsp All purpose Seasoning Salt

2 tsp All Purpose Seasoning Adobo (Optional)

2 tsp Garlic powder

1 cupWater

4Tbsps Sweet Baby Rays BBQ sauce ( Or your favourite)

1/4 cup water

1Tbsp Cornstarch

 

Step 1: Rub your ribs down with the oil (2tsps) and seasonings and let it Marinate in the fridge overnight or for  2 days.

 

Here’s a Quick Tip: Take out the ribs 30 minutes before cooking. This will help it create a better crust while searing.


Step 2: Turn your Cast iron pan on medium to high heat and lightly oil you pan (2tsps).

 

Step 3: Place your ribs in the pan searing them on all sides until they get nicely browned. Try and get the corners of the ribs by holding them upright with your tongs in the pan until they are browned.

 

Step 4: Place your ribs into your crockpot and add beef broth and water.

 

Step 5: Set your crockpot on low for 6 hours or set your oven at 275 degrees F for 8 hours.

 

Step 6: 2 hours before your ribs are finishing remove them from the pot and take out 1 cup of the liquid and set aside.

 

Step 7: Get your 1/4 cup of cool water in a separate bowl and mix in the cornstarch and BBQ sauce and then combine this mixture with the one cup of liquid you just gathered from your crockpot.

 

Step 8: Once everything is added back to the pot, taste the gravy for any additional seasonings you would like to add in at this point.

 

Here’s a Quick Tip: Remember it will reduce even more and become more concentrated with flavour so be mindful or your salt and other seasonings.

 

Step 9: Now Nestle your ribs back into the pot and let them finish with the gravy that you have just created.

 

Step 10: Serve with Mashed potatoes or Rice.
